Project management and systems design engineering for fluidized petroleum coke handling systems ranging from conceptual design through detailed project design and start-up assistance. Scope of work included receiving the fluidized coke from the existing elutrator and pneumatically transferring it to one of two new coke storage silos. The facility allows the option to ship coke to the Port of Wilmington by truck using heat reduction and material wetting equipment or to the new ball mills via belt conveyors and bucket elevators. The project also includes dust collection systems.

Sour Water Stripper

Project Description:  Sour Water Stripper

Processes Unlimited is currently working on Phase IV detailed engineering for the Sour Water Stripper OSBL project. ProU will provide detailed engineering, design, and procurement services for the project.

The scope of this project is to supply process and utility piping from tie-in-points located in the refinery to the Sour Water Stripper ISBL modular unit being furnished by Burns & McDonnell. It is also in the ProU scope of supply to provide power requirements and DCS communication to the ISBL unit. Piping, cable tray, conduit and DCS communication will be routed on existing support structures and duct banks where possible. New pipe racks will be provided where necessary. Construction of the project will be handled in one package.

Engineering for the project began in August 2008 and is scheduled to be completed in fall 2009.

Cooling Water Study

Project Description: Cooling Water Study

Due to a recently issued change to the Clean Water Act (CWA), under section 316(b), our clients must make modifications to the cooling water intake structure (CWIS) to reduce fish impingement and entrainment. In addition, the existing "once through" cooling water system has poor reliability due to many factors, including tide changes, siltation in the Cooling Water Intake Channel (CWIC), poor screen performance, poor water distribution in the process unit limits, and a limit on river water withdrawal rates. 

To address these issues, ProU was hired to do a detailed engineering study of the cooling water infrastructure. This study is intended to modify the existing "once through" system to a "closed loop" cooling water system utilizing existing and new cooling towers. Implementation will be undertaken over a ten year period.
